After a trademark or design is registered, renewal fees are payable to keep these rights valid.

Trademarks are typically to be renewed each 10 years.

In case of inventions the maintenance fees are mainly payable yearly starting from the 3rd year after grant of patent. However in some territories maintenance fees are due also for pending patent applications (e.g. in European Patent Office). In some other jurisdictions patent maintenance fees are to be paid each three-four years.
